From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
